Our team had the joy of having a Mentor High School senior shadow us for her senior project. It was a great experience, as we showed her each unique piece of the real estate business.
Take a look at what she had to say.
My name is Brooke, and I am a senior graduating from Mentor High School. At the end of the year, seniors get the option to leave school and shadow onsite a career of their choice. I decided I wanted to see what a career in real estate was like. While shadowing the Forsythe Group at Platinum Real Estate, I learned that passion, understanding, and empathy for people are very important when having a career that revolves around your clientele. The Forsythe Group showed me the importance of having a driven team that supports and helps one another, rather than doing everything on your own. Being surrounded by this team made me realize if I were to pursue a career in real estate, I would not want to do it alone and I would join a team like this one.
During my time with the Forsythe Group, I got to see all the different aspects that go into real estate. I went to a listing to see how the process of pricing and listing a house would work, as well as taking pictures of the house and interacting with the client to make sure all their needs are met. I went on another endeavor to an open house to see how to set up and to learn good times to have an open house and times you should not have one. I got to see the different online sources that are helpful when searching for information. Another important factor of real estate that I had not thought of before was marketing. It is important that your name is known so that sellers and buyers can reach out to you for their real estate needs. Overall, the most important thing I learned while shadowing a realtor is passion for your job and the desire to help others is a must have to have this career.
